West Hills Christian School (WHCS), a faith ministry, is funded through tuition, gifts and fundraising. The purpose of Development is to generate the support we require and to work with the families and staff of WHCS in furthering its mission. At West Hills Christian School, we believe Development is a ministry, and we recognize our responsibility to apply Scripture to all aspects of our development activities. It is the school's desire to fulfill Matthew 6:33 in the deepest sense: "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you."
Scripture teaches us to be good stewards with what the Lord has given us. Psalm 24:1 teaches us that everything we have belongs to the Lord. Stewardship is living a lifestyle based upon an understanding of God's provision in all areas. When we understand stewardship, it results in giving a portion of everything back to Him. Development is sharing opportunities with God's people to invest and give back to Him.
West Hills Christian School's vision to meet the ongoing need for Christian education for the next 50 years by expanding our facilities to enhance the quality and breadth of the programs first began in 1997. The capital campaign for Phase One, Building God's Children, was completed in 1999 and provided the south wing which houses twelve classrooms, including a science lab. The capital campaign for Phase Two, entitled Children: Our Reason for Growth, provided funding for the north wing (eight classrooms and gym) and a new library media center. Each of these building projects was made possible by the generous contributions of friends, families alumni, fundraisers, corporate matching funds, grants and financing.
Our ongoing goal is to continue the legacy of excellence at West Hills Christian School. To ensure this legacy we need: a commitment to hold firm to the school's mission, excellent biblically-based academic and spiritual training for our students, top-notch faculty and staff, and tuition that remains affordable for students of various economic and ethnic backgrounds. Critical to all of these is the need to remain fiscally sound.
Luke 6:38 says "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap..." As a school with this perspective, we are humbled and privileged to see how the Lord moves upon the hearts of individuals and families to provide the needs of our school. West Hills Christian School believes that as we give in proportion to the way the Lord has blessed us, God will use our time, talents, and treasures to continue His work here at our school.
